What is Docmost?
Docmost gives teams a shared place to write and organize operational knowledge without handing the content layer to a hosted-only vendor. Pages live inside permissioned spaces, multiple people can edit together, and diagrams, comments, history, attachments, and search keep supporting context close to the writing.
Docmost is open-source collaborative wiki and documentation software. It provides real-time collaboration, spaces, permissions, comments, page history, search, file attachments, and embedded content.
Core capabilities
- Co-edit wiki pages in real time with comments and version history
- Organize knowledge in spaces with groups and granular permissions
- Embed files and create Draw.io, Excalidraw, and Mermaid diagrams
Collaborative pages with visual context
The editor supports simultaneous writing, comments, page history, attachments, embeds, and Draw.io, Excalidraw, and Mermaid diagrams. A page can hold both an explanation and its supporting material, while search helps colleagues recover existing knowledge instead of creating another disconnected document.

Spaces, permissions, and controlled deployment
Spaces and groups organize access to team knowledge, with self-hosting keeping operation under the organization's control. The repository separates the AGPL-licensed core from enterprise-licensed features. SSO and enterprise governance capabilities should therefore be checked against the chosen edition rather than assumed to accompany every installation.
