What is Worklenz?
Worklenz joins task execution with resource planning for service teams. Lists, Kanban boards, roadmaps, time records, and workload views organize delivery; client and project-finance views add budgets, billable work, and burn-rate reporting in eligible paid or self-hosted plans.
Worklenz is an open-source platform for project and resource management. It combines tasks, time tracking, resource planning, budgets, collaboration, and reporting, with cloud and self-hosted options.
Core capabilities
- Plan project tasks in list, Kanban, and roadmap views
- Track time, workload, team capacity, and delivery progress
- Manage clients and, on eligible plans, project budgets, billable work, and burn rate
Delivery and resource planning together
Tasks can be organized through detailed lists, visual Kanban flow, and roadmap timelines. Workload and capacity information adds the staffing view around those tasks, while time tracking helps teams compare planned effort with the work actually recorded.

Clients and project finance beside the work
Client records and delivery views can live beside the work. Project budgets, billable work, cost information, and burn-rate reporting add commercial context, but official documentation places project finance on Business, Enterprise, or eligible self-hosted plans rather than the free cloud plan. The repository also separates paid Business Edition code from its AGPL core.

Where it fits
Use cases
- 01
Deliver client projects
Create a client project, break it into assigned tasks, manage progress across list or Kanban views, and keep the roadmap visible to the people responsible for delivery.
- 02
Balance work across a team
Compare assignments, workload, capacity, estimates, and time records to identify overloaded teammates, gaps in a schedule, or work that needs to be moved.
- 03
Monitor project financial health
On a plan that includes project finance, connect budgets, billable activity, costs, and burn rate so an agency can evaluate delivery alongside the commercial position of a project.
